Production Supervisor
About the Company:
Crown Packaging is an integrated manufacturer and marketer of corrugated cartons and sheets, printed paper wraps and wallboard tape. We have built a strong and loyal customer base by developing and nurturing strategic partnership style relationships.
The two converting facilities, known as Crown Packaging and BoxMaster, operate with extensive customer reach and distribution capabilities throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Crown was recently acquired by Atlas Holdings with the objective of delivering significant growth and value creation.
We currently have an opening for a permanent, full-time Production Supervisor to join our Operations team, based out of our location in Richmond, BC. This role reports directly to the Department Manager.
**Please note, our location is not situated near public transit, applicants must have their own vehicle.
Job responsibilities for this position:
• Responsible for the safety of converting crews on shift, maintains an effective safety program and its institution, particularly as applicable to their area of supervision.
• Manufactures all products within the established quality standard,
• ensures that established quality control procedures are being used at all times to process orders in concurrence with sales specifications, responsible for the upkeep of special quality needs of any orders being processed on shift.
• Oversees an effective and trained workforce who meet customer demands without necessary delays and overtime assignments.
• Measures the performance of employees under his/her direct supervision, using established standards and performance appraisals along with efficiency and quality reports, coordinates and directs training of employees.
• Conducts investigations as needed, provides feedback/coaching when needed, and administers discipline should the situation require it.
• Maintains daily contact with the maintenance department, ensuring safety, quality and productivity action items are being addressed, assists the department Superintendent in coordination of weekly, monthly and longer-term preventive maintenance action planning.
• Assists the scheduling department with optimization of the daily machine schedule to allow maximum machine productivity, completes established shift reports and checks.
• Reviews department waste performance to ensure that the lowest possible controllable waste within their area.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements for this position:
• 5+ or more years of Supervisory experience.
• Must have experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, industry experience (corrugated/printing) would be an asset.
• Above average mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient when using Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superior problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented and has the ability to prioritizing and multi-task.
• Able to work in a group as well as individually.
• Has proven leadership abilities and can motivate a team.
• Strong work ethic is dependable and reliable.
• University degree, technical school diploma can be an asset
• The ability to work a shift rotation, with overtime as required.
