About the Company:

Crown Packaging is an integrated manufacturer and marketer of corrugated cartons and sheets, printed paper wraps and wallboard tape. We have built a strong and loyal customer base by developing and nurturing strategic partnership style relationships.

The two converting facilities, known as Crown Packaging and BoxMaster, operate with extensive customer reach and distribution capabilities throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Crown was recently acquired by Atlas Holdings with the objective of delivering significant growth and value creation.

We currently have an opening for a permanent, full-time Accountant to join our team, based out of our location in Richmond, BC. This role reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Please note, our location is not situated near public transit, applicants must have their own vehicle.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Accountant to join our growing manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will have several years of experience in general accounting within Canada and will either hold a CPA designation or be actively pursuing it. In this role, the Accountant will play a key part in supporting the Finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring full compliance with Canadian accounting standards and internal control requirements relevant to a manufacturing environment.

 

Job responsibilities for this position:

 

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes in accordance with established timelines.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports to support business decision-making.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with standard costing, variance analysis, and other production-related accounting activities.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to ensure accurate costing and reporting of materials, labour, and overhead.
  • Contribute to the budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.
  • Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial operations.

Qualifications and requirements for this position:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA designation) is required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in general accounting or financial reporting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian GAAP (ASPE or IFRS).
  • Strong knowledge of costing methods related to finished goods and inventory.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, costing, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
